I wanted to mount it to the top of a post so the hanging cable had to be cut off. Now the top cover has to be wired in place every time it's opened to add suet.
The suet basket is very poor quality so I bought a better suet cage and mounted it.
Awesome mealworm feeder. I have Titmice, Chickadee, Kinglets, and Bluebirds use this feeder. Mockingbirds and Starling can't fit in. The perch accessory is awesome too.
I purchased three of these seven years ago and just this week replaced the hanging cord. The glass dish was not a great idea..it broke immediately. So I replaced them with an oversized tuna can. Just screwed it into the base and so much better. They are very light weight so in our windy area I attached a weight with a cord. Works great for stability. Seven years ago this feeder was $29.99… glad I purchased three of them when I did.. the Eastern Bluebirds, Chickadees, Tufted Titmouse, and a range of tiny birds can eat in peace. Thank You Erva.
