Very satisfied with the Starling-Proof Bird Feeder. My bluebirds love it, bully birds hate it. That makes me smile. This my second of this type from Erva that is about 6 yrs old, showing sone wear but still in service. Erva is a great company and their customer support is outstanding.
Excellent
It does keep the starlings out. They can reach in for crumbs, but that is all. I'm very happy with how the feeder works and looks.
I purchased this feeder with the cage insert, and love it! Unfortunately, this year, the squirrels have discovered how to open the top.
I reached out to Erva's support staff, and while they said they don't currently have anything to secure the top down, they are testing out releasable cable ties as a short term fix. They were kind enough to send me a package of them for free, and I'm happy to report, they work!
Holds less than one third cup of mealworms. Constantly needs to be refilled. Starlings can't eat the mealworms but that doesn't stop them from trying. They constantly flutter around the cage scaring away the bluebirds.
